Less than 150 days to go

Well, it seems I haven't really kept up with this blog but that's one of my resolutions. Thus far we seem to have most things in place. We've hired a DJ, ordered a cake, booked a florist, photographer, picked the bridesmaid dress, did all the Catholic pre-wedding prep we were asked to.

I committed to wedding weight loss, and am proud to say I've lost a good amount of unnecessary weight. Still working on the last 10 but with a recent injury, I'm a little nervous about that happening. Here's to a quick recovery and getting in better shape!

Now we're working on groom and groomsmen attire and wedding bands! Still having trouble seeing how it will all come together though, but I am crossing my fingers!

Our stately venue...the Burr Homestead!

J and I are both into historical sites; one of our favorite memories was visitng Monticello, here in VA. I could think of no better place to celebrate our union than the Burr Homestead, in Fairfield, CT. The Homestead was originally built in the early 1700s but was burnt down by the British in 1779. The present structure was rebuilt in 1790. The site served as the wedding location of John Hancock and Dorothy Quincy in 1775.

But not only is the site historic, it features beautiful gardens, which I hope will make for some lovely photos.

*Sadly, these photos are not mine. I pulled them from the Fairfield, CT pool on Flickr. I sent my dad to check out the Homestead and he didn't take photos for me. :( I plan on replacing these with my own when I go home next in April.

About me and J

J and I have been dating for almost 4 years. We met in New York City, before I moved to Philadelphia for three years for law school. I graduated in May, took the NY bar, passed and a month later, around Christmastime, J proposed. 2009 was quite a year! Now, we're planning a wedding in Fairfield, CT on May 28, 2011.

Our budget right now is a major concern. I work for the Federal government, drafting legislation and J works as an architect in Georgetown. So far, we've booked the reception venue and the church. We're financing most, if not, all of it ourselves. Planning is mostly my job; I'm all the way in Washington and since my mom is no longer with us, I only have my dad in CT. Planning from a distance can be really hard. I'll be posting ideas as I have them, especially cost-cutting ones!
